Thermally Conductive Structural Adhesives

Two Benefits, One Material

Whether you need structural integrity or an improved thermal connection, these thermal adhesives allow design flexibility and the ability to bond a variety of substrates. Our CoolTherm adhesives couple high-bond strength with thermal conductivity for ease of use and cost-savings.

Back to Basics

What are Thermally Conductive Adhesives?

Thermally conductive adhesives are a type of adhesive that is designed to conduct heat. They are used to bond two surfaces together while also providing a thermal pathway between them.

Thermally conductive adhesives are commonly used in electronic components and EV applications where heat transfer is critical, such as bonding heat sinks to electronic components or attaching battery cells to a cooling plate. They are also used in automotive and aerospace applications where high temperatures and thermal cycling can cause traditional adhesives to fail.

Key Advantages

Why use our Thermally Conductive Structural Adhesives?

Our thermally conductive adhesives offer several advantages over traditional mechanical fasteners, including:

With the significant growth and development of battery pack technologies, manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (EVs) are placing an increased emphasis on pack design optimization. Manufacturers seek lighter weight, yet more compact solutions to gain additional energy density and reduce cost. In parallel, they also strive for simpler and more affordable manufacturing operations. One immediate route to achieving these goals is the elimination of the housings of battery modules and bonding individual cells directly to the cooling plate, a strategy known as “cell-to-pack.” To learn more about this design, read our latest white paper.
