Non-Permanent Marking Color Coding

If identification is needed to add contrast between a seal and the hardware, a non-permanent mark may be the easiest way to add visibility. Non-permanent marks are generally painted on either by Parker or by our distributor, and their sole purpose will vary by application. Some customers find this visibility the best way to remember placement of specific O-ring materials in critical applications. Others use the color coding for their internal differentiation between two compounds (Example: FKM has white mark).

In the case of O-rings, D-Rings, Lip Seals, and other molded shapes, non-permanent marks are usually a dot or line on the outer diameter of the seal.

For extruded product such as Tetra-Seals, Double Chamfered Seals, and other extruded profiles it is common to also have a dot or line, but coloring the entire outside or inside diameter is also possible.
