HPHT Double Chamfer Seals

High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) Double Chamfer Seal, originally designed for the aggressive pressures and temperatures common in oil & gas applications, could work in many high pressure applications.

 

Parker Laboratory testing with a 0.006” (0.15mm) clearance gap, 15k psi (1034 Bars) and 350°F (176°C) has validated the materials and geometries offered in a HPHT Double Chamfer seal. Side by side testing demonstrated its extrusion resistance parallels an O-ring and Back-Up assembly of the same material under equal conditions.

 

The unique geometry eliminates the need for an O-Ring and Back up, allowing a single Bill of Material and simplifying raw materials on an assembly line. In addition, it safeguards for the potential yet costly error of incorrectly installing or failing to install the Back-Up. Commonly available materials include fluorocarbons VA275-95, VA298-90, VA153-90, V0709-90 and VG109-90; and HNBRs KB285-85 and KB163-90
