Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Mounts - Noise, Vibration & Harshness Division | Parker US

An APU is an auxiliary generator that powers aircraft systems when grounded, enabling operators to avoid running the main engines at the gate. As with any mechanical system, an APU introduces noise into the aircraft, and our APU Mounting System helps ensure passenger comfort by greatly reducing the noise and vibration transferred into the cabin.

LORD Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Mounts

APU attachment systems are designed to meet the critical requirements of safety and system retention while delivering high performance vibration and noise attenuation.

Our solutions can be applied to both small (typically less than 250 pounds) and large (>250) APU systems in either bed- or suspension-mounted configurations. These technologies are also applicable to the new turbo generator systems under development for the more electric and hybrid electric aircraft.

Key Attributes:

  • Safety. Proven successful design and certification experience across multiple aircraft and APU types.
  • Weight. Patented rod-end system provides a 10-20% reduction in weight and a 30-40% reduction in part count, compared to canister style systems.
  • Performance. Maintains superior vibration and noise attenuation to ensure passenger comfort.
  • Installation. Red-end system flexibility facilitates an easier and quicker installation and removal of the APU.
  • Maintenance. No scheduled maintenance requirements, inspection coincide with APU overhaul schedules.
