Course Overview

Suitable for specifiers, fitters, technicians and maintenance personnel, this course gives hands-on training to help your organisation save time, reduce overheads and increase safety. Small bore tubing systems are used extensively in a wide range of industries, ranging from fluid instrumentation systems in processing plants to laboratory equipment. Yet choosing the correct tube materials, tube sizes, fixtures and fittings to suit a particular application, and securing high integrity leak-free connections, can sometimes prove daunting to inexperienced users.

This training program covers the following topics:

  • Tube identification
  • Tube specification: wall thickness, materials and hardness, tube preparation, storage and handling
  • Tube bending methods: spring back, tube gain, offset
  • Fittings identification: size, material and heat code traceability
  • Correct make up procedure
  • Identification of different makes
  • Practical demonstrations and test

Available Courses

Parker offers the following SBEx training courses:

  • Low Pressure SBEx (A-LOK® & CPI™ connection technologies): Up to 6,000 PSI (414 bar)
  • Medium Pressure SBEx (MPI™ & Phastite® connection technologies): 6,000 PSI to 15,000 PSI (414 to 1,034 bar)
  • High pressure SBEx (Autoclave Engineers Cone and Thread technology): 15,000 to 150,000 PSI (1,034 to 10,342 bar).

Parker also offers SBEx training specifically for hydrogen systems:

  • Low Pressure SBEx (A-LOK® & CPI™ connection technologies): Up to 6,000 PSI (414 bar)
  • High pressure SBEx (Autoclave Engineers Cone and Thread technology): 15,000 to 150,000 PSI (1,034 to 10,342 bar).

Upon succesful completion of a practical test, participants are rewarded certificates. Retraining is required every two years.

Please note: The SBEx training programme generally aligns with the UK Oil & Gas Operators Association (UKOOA) Guide for the management, design, installation of small bore tubing systems – EN directive number 0852932758.

Parker's SBEx training also addresses the requirements of the JIP33 S-716 specification. This specification outlines the requirements for the design, material selection, installation, inspection, testing, and marking of small bore tubing systems, up to 50 mm (2 in) in size, for both offshore and onshore environments. Learn more about this specification and how Parker contributed to its development here.

Methodology

Parker's SBEx training methodology includes Q/A sessions, small group discussions, review sessions, hands-on practical exercises, tests, role-playing and guided practice with feedback.

Unlike traditional training programmes, which simply demonstrate how to assemble a tube fitting correctly, SBEx courses can be tailored to suit individuals' needs. This will result in higher integrity tubing systems and safer product installation

The course is typically held at customers' premises and lasts 6 hours with a maximum class size of 6 per session.
