Parker Instrumentation Products Division defines “High Pressure” Connections used in Instrumentation Tube, Hose and Piping that have a typical use, maximum pressure rating exceeding 10,000 psi (690 bar).
Parker Hannifin offers more varied types of connections designed for more specific uses of pressure, temperature, interchangeability, and ease of use than any other single company. Included in this large selection are a group of connections specifically designed for pressures above 6,000 psi for both instrumentation tubing and pipe that don’t require welding.
Single and Double Ferrule Compression connections (Speedbite, 2507 MPA and MPI connections) are offered for pressures to 15,000 psi (1035 bar) in both 316 Stainless Steel and 2507 Super Duplex but also include a variety of other materials with temperature ranges from -423° to 1000°F (-253° to 540°C)
NPT – National Pipe Thread connections are not new, but we offer a version of this connection that is suitable for use up to 15,000 psi (1035 bar). Thread Sealant must still be used but this is an option that most any Instrument Technician/Engineer is familiar. Designed to ANSI B1.20.1 ANPT (Aerospace) standards.
Single Ferrule Compression combined with a tubing flare (FCC connection) offers a redundant sealing system (flare/cone and bite-type compression) to form an extraction-safe connection suitable for pressures up to 22,500 psi (1550 bar) and handles vibration unlike any other connection type. Hydraulic Set Tool is required for assembly
Phastite permanent instrument tube connections are an innovative design concept that eliminates the need for costly welding and combines quick installation without the need for x-ray inspection. This connection can be used to pressures of 22,500 psi (1550 bar) and temperatures from -50° to 200°F (-45° to 93°C). Hydraulic Set Tool is required for assembly.
Cone and Thread connections are broken into three different sub-groups, Medium, High and Ultra-High Pressures. Each of these use the same 58°/60° dissimilar angle cone connection but have wide variations in flow capability. Medium Pressure has a maximum of 20,000 psi but has the largest internal diameter selections. High Pressure is max 60,000 psi and Ultra-High connections come in 100,000 and 150,000 psi design options. None of these will interconnect with each other and all female connections are designed with weep holes that indicate a problem for the ultimate in safety. Standard materials are cold worked 316 SS and 2507 Super Duplex but many other materials suitable for NACE, API and other Corrosive applications are available.
