For decades, futurists have been dreaming of “flying cars” that are easier and nimbler to operate than a helicopter and accessible to everyone. Today, many aerospace technologies are coming together helping numerous companies develop small passenger electric aircraft as soon as 2023.
World Helicopter Day (Sunday, August 15) aims to raise awareness of the helicopter’s contributions to society and celebrate the diversity of people who design, fly and support them. Every day, thousands of people rely on helicopters for rescue, disaster relief, transport, firefighting, medical transfers, power line maintenance, tourism, agriculture, and many other roles.
Parker Aerospace’s Fluid System Division has a long history of supplying fuel pumps to both the civilian and military aviation markets. Detailed analysis and testing, combined with extensive hours of field operational experience, ensure our off-the-shelf pumps provide a proven, low-risk, and cost-effective solution for aircraft fuel system design.
The evolution of fly-by-wire flight control actuation systems has dramatically changed the way an aircraft performs many of its functions. A pilot’s actions are now converted to electrical signals interpreted by flight computers that initiate orders to actuate the control surfaces of the airplane. Replacing the conventional manual controls of an aircraft with an electronic interface improves safety and handling and reduces weight.
