How To Select The Right Flow Control

A pneumatic flow control provides precise speed control of air flow entering or leaving a pneumatic actuator. Flow controls combine a needle valve and a check valve. The needle valve meters the flow in one direction, while the check valve allows free flow in the opposite direction, but prevents return flow. Composite Pneumatic Flow Controls

Parker Hannifin offers a robust offering of composite pneumatic flow controls. Our composite body pneumatic flow controls are the recommended product for most standard automation applications. Our glass-reinforced nylon body can withstand the day-to-day use found in such applications as: packaging, filling, dispensing, etc. Parker's composite pneumatic flow controls are available in the following configurations/styles: Compact, Miniature, Swivel, Plug-In, and In-Line. This offering will ensure Parker has a composite pneumatic flow control that will fit your application. These composite pneumatic flow controls are available with either a knob or knobless adjustment. For applications that require a threaded connection, our composite pneumatic flow controls are available with a NPT, BSPT, BSPP, or metric threaded end.

Composite Flow Control Technology

Parker's composite pneumatic flow controls feature a durable, but lightweight glass reinforced nylon body making these the economical choice for connecting tubing to pneumatic actuators or cylinders. To provide a tight grip on the pneumatic tubing, each composite pneumatic flow control features a stainless steel gripping ring. Situated behind the gipping ring is Parker's patented D-seal. This D-Seal offers superior sealing technology to prevent compressed air leaks. These pneumatic flow controls are available in either knob or knobless adjust mechanism, offering precise and tamper proof adjustments. For applications that require a threaded connection, our BSPP composite pneumatic flow controls come with a sealing o-ring already installed. Our NPT and BSPT units have factory applied thread sealant. 

Brass Pneumatic Flow Controls

For applications where the pneumatic flow control may come into contact with weld spatter, Parker Hannifin offers a brass body pneumatic flow control. The all brass body body meets the UL94 V-0 standard for flame resistance. These brass pneumatic flow controls are the ideal choice for robotic weld cells. Parker's brass pneumatic flow controls are also silicone free, making these an acceptable flow control for painting applications. All brass pneumatic flow controls  feature an internal Allen wrench adjustment screw, preventing accidental change to settings. For applications that require a threaded connection, Parker's brass pneumatic flow controls are available in either NPT or BSPP threads.

Brass Flow Control Technology

Parker's brass pneumatic flow controls are built to withstand the challenge environments of industrial manufacturing. The solid brass body on all brass pneumatic flow controls is UL94 V-0 rated for flame resistance. This rating ensures these pneumatic flow controls can withstand weld spatter in robotic welding cells. Our brass pneumatic flow controls feature an Allen screw adjustment. This adjustment method prevents accidental adjustments to the flow of compressed air passing through the pneumatic flow control. For applications that require threaded connections, our brass pneumatic flow controls are available with either NPT or BSPP threads. Parker's brass pneumatic flow controls are silicone free, making them the ideal choice for painting applications. 

Metal Pneumatic Flow Controls

For applications that require extra environmental protection, Parker offers a line of metal pneumatic flow controls. These metal pneumatic flow controls feature a nickel plated brass body, ideal for protecting the flow control from high temperatures, sparks, abrasions, etc. To ensure our metal pneumatic flow controls meet the needs of the applications, we offer both Meter Out and Meter In variations. All Parker metal flow controls are available with either NPT or BSPP threads. These pneumatic flow controls are only available with a knob adjustment mechanism.

Metal Flow Control Technology

Stainless Steel Pneumatic Flow Controls

Parker's stainless steel pneumatic flow controls are the ideal choice for applications with high mechanical or chemical restraints. The 316L stainless steel body is able to withstand most challenging environments, making the stainless steel pneumatic flow controls for washdown applications. All stainless steel pneumatic flow controls are factory tested to be 100% leak proof before they leave our manufacturing facility. Due to the high quality materials, our stainless steel pneumatic flow controls will not add contaminations to the conveyed fluids. To reduce the  contamination points, all stainless steel pneumatic flow controls feature a knobless adjustment mechanism. For applications that require a threaded connection, Parker offers the stainless steel pneumatic flow control with either a BSPP or NPT threaded end.

Stainless Steel Flow Control Technology

The 316L body on Parker's stainless steel pneumatic flow controls provides superior protection from challenging environments. Due to the 316L stainless steel and smooth surfaces, these pneumatic flow controls are the ideal choice for applications that will come into contact with chemical washdowns. To reduce the potential contamination points, all stainless steel pneumatic flow controls feature a knobless adjustment mechanism. To adjust the flow, you will need a flathead screwdriver to adjust the 316L adjustment screw. For superior sealing performance, each stainless steel pneumatic flow controls uses an FKM seal. For applications that require a threaded connection, our BSPP stainless steel pneumatic flow controls come with a sealing o-ring already installed. Our NPT and BSPT units have factory applied thread sealant.
