Today there is an ever-increasing trend toward the electrification of vehicles in the transportation industry. In order for electric vehicles (EVs) to gain more acceptance in the market, there has been an ongoing effort to increase the range and performance of EVs to be similar to current internal combustion engine vehicles

Electric Vehicle Adhesives

At Parker LORD, our rubber-to-substrates are evolving to meet new performance requirements to help maintain the smooth ride that EVs provide. Our current Chemlok Adhesives and Sipiol Coatings continue to address the same issues that the EVs have including noise, vibration and harshness.

Weatherstrip & Glass for Electric Vehicles

The near-silent electronic vehicle has made the importance of noise reduction an even greater factor in ensuring passenger comfort. Now that the noise from the engine has been eliminated, other noises have become more noticeable. With our weatherstrip and glass coatings and adhesives, not only can you increase the lifetime of automotive sealings, but you can also reduce those annoying squeak and itch noises.

Sipiol UV Dielectric Coatings for Battery Packs on Electric Vehicles

Sipiol UV is a UV-cured, VOC-Free, 100% solids, dielectric coating that cures in seconds that has superior adhesion to metals and plastics. Sipiol UV coatings was specifically formulated for edge coverage and flexibility to prevent catastrophic battery fires. The strong adhesion and flexibility blends itself to many applications in the battery assembly.

Motor Mounts on Electric Vehicles

Powertrain rubber mounts, such as cone mounts, bushes and h-mounts, work to counteract vibrations from high shock loads.  These types of critical parts require a strong bond between the elastomer and the metal, and a strong bond can be achieved by implementing Chemlok adhesives.  Depending on the application and the substrates, a strong bond can be achieved with a one-coat system or a two-coat system.

Suspension Parts for Electric Vehicles

EVs tend to be heavier than internal combustion engine counterparts, primarily due to the weight of the battery.  Rubber bushings are mounted on car suspension and steering joints to help absorb those road bumps, while also controlling the amount of movement in the joints.  For years, Parker LORD has been providing solutions to companies manufacturing suspension components.  One example is a two-coat system of Chemlok 205 and Chemlok 6100 used to manufacture an automotive bushing on an electric vehicle platform.
