GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn., December 13, 2017 – As the Internet of Things continues to open doors for innovation in medical product engineering, Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, leverages these innovations to design products that address the latest challenges in biocare.
Parker’s BioCare Business Unit is introducing new applications with its FlexSense technology at this year’s MD&M West trade show in Anaheim, Calif.
Parker’s FlexSense are wireless sensors that measure displacement and strain. Soft, thin and conformable, the sensors are well-suited for applications including edema and wound monitoring, liquid level sensing, orthopedics and physical therapy, says Tim Mannchen, EAP Market Development at Parker. The physical form and function of the sensors are perfect for use in wearables including compression socks, footwear, insoles and garments. Mannchen will be on-hand at Booth #2601 to discuss the potential applications of these new products with attendees and the media.
“The Flexible Displacement Sensor utilizes electroactive polymer (EAP) technology to take its capacity for strain and displacement measurements further than we ever thought possible,” Mannchen says. “They consistently take accurate, precise measurements while being strained up to 100% for millions of cycles, making them incredibly reliable.”
Other products being unveiled at MD&M West include:
- Push-Button Thermoplastic Couplings – Designed for quick, easy and secure connection/disconnection with Coaxial Design
- Oxygen Therapy Products – Including Ventilator Flow Control
- Diagnostic Products – Including new connectors for NIBP systems
