Cylinders

A wide variety of applications for hydraulic cylinders exist in the field of mechanical equipment. There is no way around these drives especially when linear motion with high force density must be generated.

Hydraulic cylinders are suitable for diverse purposes: from the extremely harsh environment in the iron and steel industry to all types of construction machinery to transportation technology to high-dynamically controllable metal forming and plastic injection molding machines.

Due to their extremely compact design and various operating modes (e.g. without motors), both indoor and outdoor uses are possible without any problems. Hydraulic drives are optimally suited for applications requiring particularly high forces.

The design of the sealing systems reflects this wide application range:
For instance, operating pressure ranges of up to 600 bar, travel speeds of up to 8 m/s and operating temperature ranges from -50 to +100 °C are possible. The utilization of modern fluids can be countered by appropriate sealing materials. Technical sealing performance against the atmosphere is an important criterion especially with piston rod  sealing systems.

Valves

Hydraulic valves are an essential element of any hydraulic circuit. They serve to influence the three key factors of a hydraulic drive: travel, volume flow and pressure.

Due to its uses, this application typically emphasizes static operation. Valves are used  in all conceivable fields from heavy-duty hydraulics to high-dynamic, position-accurate control units and applications in control loops. Hydraulic valves feature extremely compact designs and are frequently utilized in block or linking units.

Very high operating pressures, high to very high flow speeds, the resulting high temperatures in the sealing area and a wide variety of fluids are typical operating conditions for sealing systems in hydraulic valve technology. Especially the variable flow speeds make high demands on the wear resistance of the sealing systems.

Pumps & Motors

Hydraulic pumps serve to generate the operating energy in a hydraulic system at medium to high rotational speeds and high operating pressures. Hydraulic motors serve to generate rotational motion in the hydraulic circuit.

Due to the extreme energy density in hydraulic drive systems, the design is compact and the space for the sealing system is minimized. Hydraulic pumps and motors are used with fixed or variable displacement volumes. The control technology is correspondingly complex.

Hydraulic motors can be used with single or alternating rotational direction, preferably in the case of extreme torque requirement, speed-independent torque levels, and minimal availability of design space.

Sealing systems from Parker Prädifa meet maximum requirements in pumps and motors: Operating pressures of up to 600 bar, temperatures that can aggregate up to 120 °C at the sealing point, and high shaft speeds require powerful and sophisticated sealing configurations. The wide range of potential media makes additional demands on the materials used.

Stable processes enable precision manufacturing of seals, which is decisive for achieving the maximum efficiency of a machine. All components of the system must cause only low friction and permit only minimal internal leakage.
