The history of the Hydraulic Pump & Motor Europe dates back to 1885, when the Wanderer Werke was founded, specializing in the production of bicycles, office machines, motorcycles, and milling machines.
In 1955, the Wanderer Werke was transformed into the VEB Industriewerke, which began producing aircraft engines. In 1961, the foundation for the Pump & Motor Division was laid, and production of hydraulic drives for mobile and stationary operations began. In 1994, the US company Commercial Hydraulics took over the operation and expanded the product range to include axial piston pumps and gear pumps.
Finally, in 2000, Parker Hannifin acquired the site. In 2002, the production of gerotor motors and, in the following year, the axial piston pump business were relocated from the Hydraulic Controls Division in Oberndorf to Chomutov. In 2005, the Pump & Motor Division Europe was founded, and the location in Trollhättan, Sweden, became part of the division. In 2017, the Parker locations in Vierzon and Bologna became part of the PMDE.
In 2025 the Pump & Motor Division Europe (PMDE) was renamed to Hydraulic Pump & Motor Europe (HPME). Today, the HPME offers a wide range of products and, together with its sister divisions, provides complete product solutions for various industries such as agriculture, construction, mining, and transportation.
Both in the office and in production HPME use the lean principles to drive continuous improvements and our location in Sweden, Trollhättan is one of Parkers Lean Model Plants. We work with Six Sigma and we are certified according ISO 9001 at all our locations. Our ISO management system certifications demonstrate our commitment to quality, continual improvement and customer focus.
