Parker Lord offers a variety of flexible joints to accomodate the motion of an oil rig or intervention vessel. We apply aerospace-proven processes and quality systems to our Oil & Gas flexible joint products to ensure each part performs consistently and reliably.

CWOR | IWOCS

LORD® flexible joints can be deployed with Intervention Workover Control Systems (IWOCS) and the associated riser system to accommodate the motion of the intervention/workover vessel relative to the subsea wellhead. Flexible joints can also be deployed at the surface in an IWOCS system.

Features & Benefits

  • Features unique dual bearing design
  • Rated to 10,000 psi and hydro-tested to 15,000 psi
  • Lower bending stiffness reduces wellhead fatigue, extending field life
  • Compact height (just over 5 feet) enables use on smaller intervention vessels
  • Fielded on multiple intervention vessels
  • DNV-certified
  • High-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) versions available (>350°F)

Drilling Riser Flexible Joints

LORD® flexible joints accommodate the motion of the rig relative to the subsea wellhead.

Features & Benefits
  • Features unique dual bearing design
    • Seal bearing optimized for high-pressure containment and fluid resistance
    • Load bearing optimized for low rotational stiffness and fatigue strength
    • Load bearing functions as a redundant seal to improve reliability and capability over a single-bearing design
  • HPHT versions available (>350°F)

Steel Catenary Riser (SCR) Flexible Joints

LORD® SCR Joints accommodate the heave and roll of the vessel motion, reacts the weight of the riser itself, and contains production fluids under pressure.

Features and Benefits

  • We offer a lower bending stiffness for a given load rating, imparting lower stresses on the vessel at the attachment point

Tendon Bearings

LORD® Tendon Bearing connectors attach the tendon to the vessel and the sea floor while accommodating the lateral motion of the vessel due to ocean currents.

Features & Benefits

  • Easily customizable to serve challenging applications
  • LORD connector bearings installed on the Jolliet platform are still in service today
