The company "Magnéto Lucifer" was founded in 1920 in Geneva, Switzerland. At that time, Lucifer manufactured dynamos for bicycle lights – from which the name Lucifer comes from: in latin "lux ferre" means "bringer of light ". This activity would last more than 40 years. In 1957 there was a need for diversification, the bicycle market was on the decline. The machines in Lucifer's production line required more and more often the replacement of solenoid valves so different models of solenoid valves were developed from necessity and with a gifted skill. In 1958, a first series of solenoid valves was introduced at the Basel Fair, with such a success that even the prototypes were sold during the fair.
In the 90’s Parker Hannifin acquired the Lucifer and together with further acquisitions including Gessate in Italy sees the Fluid Control Division Europe as a world leader and innovator of Solenoid valve and electro-pneumatic technology.
