Research and Development Trend in Coalescence Filtration Abstract.

This presentation reviews the research and development trend of coalescence filter in terms of media selection, fiber size, binder, drainage structure, and filter element structure.

Coalescing filters provide clean air for many applications including paint spraying, clean room, air bearings, and other precision pneumatic systems. Clean compressed air is also essential in such industries as food processing, electronics, health care, photographic and dairy and instrumentation.

Clean air in these and other critical applications means more than air free of solid particulate contamination. Air used in these industries must also be free of water and oil aerosols, which are beyond the control of conventional filter systems. Coalescing filters of media composed of glass fibers are considered the most effective way of this application.
