Parker Hannifin Introduces New Online Tool for Comparison of Compressed Air Filters

Gateshead, United Kingdom. 4. December 2017Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, have recently launched the “Parker Energy Saving Calculator”, a new online application that allows users to compare independently validated compressed air filters. The tool is designed to support companies in finding the solution with the best total cost of ownership (TCO) when planning a new compressed air installation or thinking about upgrading an already existing system. By comparing annual power consumption, electrical costs and operating hours, a clear indication of TCO can be equated.

“Energy consumption is a variable with major impact on the operating cost of a filter, but is often overlooked. Therefore, the full total cost of ownership of a filter remains hidden, and a great saving potential is lost,” says Christopher Nixon, Product Manager Filtration at Parker Hannifin. “Our new Energy Saving Calculator aims to advise users on the advantage of investigating the total cost of ownership when selecting their filtration needs.”

The multi-lingual tool is easy to use, requiring minimal information and allows comparisons against two additional manufacturers. It is preprogramed with data from the official manufacturer’s literature of filters tested in accordance with ISO 12500-1:2007, however users also have the opportunity to enter other data.

The first step of the four-step process is selecting the filters, followed by inputting the parameters for ‘power consumption’, ‘annual operating hours’, ‘annual power consumption’ and ‘electricity costs’. This data will then be analyzed by the system, presenting users with a comprehensive overview of the ‘power consumption per year’ and ‘electrical costs per year’ for an individual filter. In the last step, the user simply enters the purchase costs for the respective filter and replacement element in order for the application to determine the filter and element payback period, enabling users to see the lowest TCO at a glance. Results will be displayed in an informative graphic that can be printed out and shared with colleagues.
