A new way to achieve air classification ISO 8573-1 Class 0 with the Parker domnick hunter OVR

domnick hunter Filtration and Separation, a division of Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, introduces the new Parker domnick hunter OVR oil vapour removal filter at this year’s Hannover Messe, 13-17 April.

When a process requires air specified to meet ISO 8573-1 Class 0 for total oil concentration many equipment suppliers argue that this can be achieve with an oil free compressor supported by little to no treatment equipment, this is simply not the case. The air compressor is not the only source of oil contamination and the ambient air drawn into the compressor contains atmospheric pollution, which left untreated means the air cannot be guaranteed to meet ISO 8573-1 Class 0. As identified in ISO8573-1, the measured oil concentration must be between 0.01 and 0.003mg/m3 to achieve ISO 8573-1 Class 0.

For a compressed air system to be cost effective, ISO 8573-1 Class 0 should be specified only at the point of use and only for applications where it is really needed. The new OVR from Parker domnick hunter is the ideal solution for point of use oil vapour removal as it not only helps to reduce the oil contamination drawn in through the compressor intake, it also reduces oil contamination found in the distribution piping.

The new OVR pushes further Parker domnick hunter’s already market leading position for efficiency when compared to traditional carbon towers. Whereas traditional carbon towers are loose filled with activated carbon, the Parker domnick hunter OVR utilises uniquely filled cartridges that providing maximum packing density - eliminating dusting, performance degradation and blocked outlet filters

The new OVR has been designed to complement the existing range of compressed air treatment equipment from Parker and when selected to match system conditions and seasonal temperature changes, provides consistent air purity for a full 12 months of continuous operation.

OVR is also ideally suited for critical, direct contact & indirect contact applications in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, with its modular aluminium construction being FDA Title 21 compliant & EC1935 exempt.

With easy installation and maintenance in mind the OVR has been designed with a choice of three flexible inlet and outlet connections which allows piping to remain in situ during maintenance and simple easy change out of cartridges which eliminate the need of vacuum removal of exhausted carbon, typical of traditional carbon towers.
